My 100th POST!

And what a better way to celebrate my 100th post than by posting too many pics of Cannon :) Imagine how I felt bringing my son to his 15-month appointment with a black eye! Everyone was staring at me and asking how it happened. I felt like if I didn't describe the incident perfectly, child protective services would be waiting for me in the lobby!

Cannon's Dr. got a good look at him and smiled. He said "boys will be boys!" I felt relieved- lol. He said there is going to be many more where that came from. He obviously dosen't understand how protective I am. I am shocked that Cannon has been injured as much as he has, because I am literally on his tail everywhere he goes, and our house is EXTREMELY baby- scratch that- human proof.

Cannon weighed 26.4 lbs and was 33 inches tall. He is in the 75th-80th percentile for almost everything! He said that he is extremely strong and super smart for his age. Cannon is always in show-off mode there. He gave Dr. Arnold a "high-five" and did all of his animal sounds for him (dog, monkey, kitty-cat, cow). He also took his pen from the Dr and said "wha-z-dis?" (translation-what is this?) It was a good little appointment. He told me that Cannon is ALREADY in his terrible 2's. He said that boys and "busy/active" babies tend to hit it a lot earlier than most babies (and they tend to stay in it for a lot longer! ahhh). 3 of Cannon's molars have broken through in the past month, but they are far from being all of the way down- so his gums are super swollen and painful.

My 99th post.....

If you think that Cannon looks bad, you should see the other guy! You can't really tell in these pics, but Cannon got in a HUGE fight with the coffee table this morning. He was climbing all over me and he slipped and fell forward. It seriously breaks my heart when he gets injured. I get bad anxiety and I want to cry with him. This picture is after his shiner was only 3o minutes old, so we will see if it gets much worse than this. The bad thing is that he has his 15-month Dr's apt. tomorrow, and I am sure they are going to be asking questions. I swear I don't beat my child! I probably cried more than he did when this happened.

The Round Up and Kissing.

We have had a pretty busy week! We spent the 4th of July at Kacey's with her friends and family. It was a lot of fun and there was enough food to feed a football team (Thanks for the invite!). Aspen (one of the little girls at the party) decided that she liked Cannon and gave him his first kiss. A few days later, Cannon and I went to Milli's baby shower where I spent most of my time chasing him (and making all of those with no kids decide to not have kids). It was actually really fun! It was so nice to see my pal's and fellow washed-up softball buddies. Milli has the cutest little pregnant belly ever! I never knew you could be pregnant and have a 6-pack at the same time. We went back the next day and went swimming with TC (her kiddo's), Mandy (Addison), Cynthia (her kiddo's), Neta and a very flu-stricken Milli. Cannon loves swimming. He had such a good time and he is now in love with Annabelle. He played very gently with her and gave her a smooch on her cheek. I am starting to see a pattern here when Cannon has play-dates with little girls. We also had a play-date with our new friend Landon and his mommy Jamie. Cannon was really intimidated by Jamie's older boys, but he eventually warmed up with them. Uncle Mike came to dinner one night and Jason and Nicole Judd came last night. We also met some of our new neighbors and played with them! We have been SUPER busy to say the least :) I am just thrilled that we have been making lots of friends in our new little neighborhood. I am truly so happy and excited for Cannon to be exposed to lots of friends (and it is great that their moms are so fun too!).

Bleeding Love

I am posting this video for Brian because he misses Cannon a ton! He is on a "business trip" to Florida while we are home in Utah. I say its a "business trip" loosely because they are having a total blast back there. They have nice rooms in a nice hotel, they have been eating at the Cheesecake Factory, hanging at the beach, and going to movies in their down time. I wish I could go on a business trip like that.

So here is a video of Cannon watching TV, but not just any old show. Cannon really doesn't care for TV. He will watch 10-15 minutes of a Baby Einstein and then get bored. I sometimes have Nick Jr, Disney and VH1 on for background noise. We like the music and Cannon will occasionally glance up at the Backyardigans (when they are singing), Diego (when there is singing) and the Wonder Pets (when they are singing). However, their is one thing that will draw him to the TV and make him go crazy. He is OBSESSED with the music video and song for "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis. Face it, the kid has great taste in music. I think he is in love with Leona. We will be playing in his bedroom, and he will make a mad dash to the living room if he hears her song come on. He just stares at the TV and makes himself comfortable. If he is throwing a fit and that song comes on, he becomes dazed. I have thought about writing Leona Lewis to tell her that her #1 fan is still in diapers.

Brian and I have also noticed that Cannon plays differently with girls than boys. He is more gentle and flirty. He shares. He likes to stare and gets shy. He is the complete opposite with boys. I think we have a future Casanova on our hands. Don't worry mommies of girls...I have already started to train him to be a gentleman : )

My Little Monster

Here is a perfect example on what it is like to have a little boy. He is sweet and innocent on the outside, but he is a little monster at heart. He basically runs our house and tells us what to do. You don't really realize that you are being controlled by him, but you always end up giving him what he wants. I am just amazed at how smart and silly he is. Here is a little video where I caught him at one of his goofy moments. I was doing the dishes and I looked over at him STANDING on the coffee table! I walked and got the camera and he got on all 4's and started to do this-

I think he succeeded in distracting me from the dishes, because I ended up leaving my chores and playing with him until his nap....he is a little sneaky boy.

The Paci-Gate Continues..... and Sprinkler Fun!

So Cannon was an absolute terror at Jeanette's bridal shower today! He was whiny, clingy, and tired! He was an hour short on his nap, so I figured he was just exhausted. He took a brief nap in the car on the way home. He was only down for 30 minutes in the car, so I thought maybe I could sneak him into his crib. When I put him in his crib, I noticed 3 more binkies were missing. I am SICK AND TIRED of buying binkies and having them vanish. I came to the conclusion that Cannon was just eating them and they were in his chubby little tummy. Needless to say, he did not fall back asleep for a nap. I was going to solve this missing binkie problem once and for all, so I kept him in his crib and dug around. I searched in the mattress and all around the ground, under the dresser, in the air conditioning vent- you name it. I found nothing. Then I decided to pull the crib slightly away from the wall....and BAM- like 6 binkies hit the floor. The little stinker was storing them on the other side of his bumper between the bumper and the wall. He was switching them out and hiding them in that location (probably because he knew I would just go and buy more for his addiction) lol. So now he currently has 13 binkies in his crib, and he is in pure heaven. Does anyone know the number for binki-holics anonymous?


So when he decided not to nap, I put him in his chair and gave him dinner. It was so hot! I don't know if it was the heat getting to me or just boredom, but I had a stroke of pure genius. Even though it was 5:30 at night, it was still like 90 degrees. I decided to have Bonnie and her cute pup Jovi, and Jessica with her kiddo's over- to play in the sprinklers. I seriously love my neighbors, and its so fun having Trent and Jess a few houses down (Brynlee and Cannon are just now starting to play well together). As you can see from the pics below, the kiddos and pup had a blast! We have this really cool splash park a like 3 blocks down, but it was super crowded today. So we just made our own little splash park and it was a great way to cool off, have fun, and pass time (which is nice to do with a toddler). I actually had fun running through it. Maybe one of these days I will work up the courage to wear a swim suit and play in the water with the kids.

My daddy- by Cannon Perry

I love my daddy sooo very much! Sometimes I wake up SUPER EARLY just because I want to see him. Mommy brings me to bed with them and daddy lets me crawl all over him and tickle him. When daddy leaves for work, I get very sad and cry. But he always comes home and I run right to him for some loves. Daddy also likes to chase me around the house and wrestle. I might be small, but I have knocked daddy down to his knee's many of times. Daddy loves to lay down next to me when I am getting ready for bed. We love to snuggle. I also like when mommy and daddy take me on walks each night. When I am super happy, I will sing and say "dada" a million times. Daddy calls me his "little buddy" and his "chunk-a-chunk." I love that I can look at my daddy and see myself in his eyes. Mommy also says that I have my dad's temperament....whatever that means. I cannot wait until I am bigger and I can play sports and go camping with my daddy. I hope that he has a great fathers day, because he is the greatest father ever.

I love you daddy, you are my hero.

The 1 year pics!!

Here are all of them, for those of you who havent seen them yet : ) This was Cannon's third session with Brittany. She did his newborn and 6 month ones as well. We just LOVE her! She is fantastic to work with and so so soooo talented!

Oh Cannon!

Its been a while since I've done a Cannon post (sorry mom)- and I know some people are dying to see pics (again, sorry to my parents), but he is just a little too overly active right now. I kid you not, I am just exhausted all day, every day. People ask when I will have kid #2, well- I still need to catch my breath from kid #1! With all of the chasing around that I do, I am honestly surprised that I am not back to my pre-wedding weight.

Cannon was going through this darling little phase where he had to open and slam every door, cupboard, drawer- you name it. Our way of getting over that was to baby proof the house. Well, lets just say that didn't last very long. 4 months later, and he is STILL slamming EVERYTHING that he can. He will even check the baby proof doors just to see if they are still baby proof. Then he finds drawers (like the one attached to my stove that holds cookie sheets, and the fridge, and all of our dressers) to open and slam. Not only that, but he now hides things in every corner of our house. I find shoes in the fridge, blankets in the oven drawer, remotes in the bathtub....you name it. I basically play chase and hide and seek all day. He is also Paci-aholic, and he has lost 6 of his favorite binkies in the past 2 weeks. I don't know if there is a Paci Gnome in our house, or if he is eating them, or if they simply just vanish into thin air- but they are completely GONE. I have had to buy 5 binkies in the past week to re-build his collection.

The moral of my post, it is so hard to take pics of a baby who is into everything, because he hardly stops and poses anymore. Little Stinker- yet another Cannon post

What can I say, my life REVOLVES around Cannon. I am really super boring and would have nothing to blog about if it weren't for him. So here is whats up with him-

We had his 1 year check up and he was a SUPER show-off for his pediatrician. He weighs 24 lbs 4 oz and is 31 inches long. He was running around the room and talking up a storm. He fell and said "ut-oh" and clapped at himself for getting back up. He was playing with his toys and the Dr. got out the light thingy to check his ears. Cannon pointed at it and said "was da? (which is his way of saying "whats that?") Dr. Arnold was extremely shocked. Cannon also stood on 1 leg and bent over to pick up a toy and didn't fall. I was speechless. I had never seen him do that before (he has the balance of a baseball catcher-YES!! lol). After spending some time with us and checking him, he said that Cannon is extremely bright (he gets that from his daddy). He said that he is actually in the 15-18 month old physical and developmental mark. I have never seen Cannon show off that much before. He also got a shot and only cried for about 5 seconds, which made my life a lot easier (I was preparing for a total melt-down).

Now to the fun stuff. He is a complete and total HANDFUL! If I am not chasing him around and cleaning up after him all day, then I am exhausted on the couch from the extreme work out (How I have not lost 50 lbs chasing him around all day, I have no idea). I have to keep an eye on him at all times. He takes our shoes and hides them throughout the house. My wallet ended up in his toy chest. His puzzle pieces end up in our bathroom drawers and I caught him putting a TV remote in our bathtub (with the water running, because he knows how to turn it on and leave). People make fun of me for the way that I have baby-proofed (cross that, HUMAN-PROOFED my house). I don't think they understand why it is necessary. Cannon tries to plug everything into the wall sockets (thank heavens for those little plastic thingies). He tries to dive into the toilets, even when we are sitting on them and going (sorry, I know that is too much info- but I love our toilet locks), and the baby gate at the top of our stairs is a must (he has an obsession with throwing things down the stairs and trying to get them). Maybe my other kids wont need the whole house baby-proofed, but I am not willing to let an accident happen to find out that we needed to do it. All of our drawers and cupboards have baby locks. Our dressers are bolted to the wall. Its just 1 small risk that I am not willing to take with my INTO EVERYTHING son. For those of you who are blessed with kids who understand what "no" means and avoids danger, you are lucky. I know I am going to have a full head of grey hair by the time he is 3. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about Cannon. He is a complete joy and I have so much fun. He is just extremely exhausting. I have to take him to the park and on walks to get him out of the house so that he can explore more. He isn't hyper or demanding, he just isn't very cautious. He will slam his hand in his dresser drawer, cry, and then want to play with his dresser again. He doesn't care that it hurt him. He is very determined and doesn't care about injuries. Here are some pics of Hurricane Cannon. I took these pics to show what 3 minutes of playing in his room alone means (it means taking out 5 pairs of shorts, random shoes, books, diapers, the wall plug.......and this was all just 3 minutes!). While I try to put away the 2 books that he got out, he pulls out another 7. Don't even get me started on the toy box in our living room. I had just finished picking up his toys in the living room, and when I went to get his pj's in his room- he got out a few things and threw them all over........ (this picture does it no justice, there were toys EVERYWHERE!!)

PS- I posted the pic below because he is still obsessed with binks, lol. Can you see how many he has in his crib? That's not to mention the other 2 that fell out onto the floor during the night. I LOVE YOU CANNON WARD!

5 Months Old!

The weather is MISERABLE right now and I am having a hard time sleeping. I never do well with thunder. It makes me feel like its the end of days. It will be the end of days if it ends up waking Cannon, let me tell you! Brian is at ward basketball, probably throwing his shoes against the wall (it wouldn't be the first time), and I am at home...waiting. I keep running up and down the halls with each flash of lightening and loud boom of thunder. Cannon has been out of our room for 3 days now, and I want the transition to work well. I think his acid reflux is finally gone (which is why he slept in our room in the first place), so I am just having a fun time adjusting to him in his crib. Maybe I will get up the courage to close his bedroom door one of these days....probably not. I can't believe he is already 5 months old! Wow! We had a well baby visit last week. Here is an update-

Cannon is 17 lbs 9 oz and 26 1/2 inches long (I know- such big boy!) He is also developing beautifully (the Dr said that he had many traits of an 8 month old). He has been such a joy in our lives. He hardly cries, always smiles, and is a wonderful baby. We lucked out in the baby lottery. Hopefully he continues to be a good baby, time will tell-lol.
